Privacy Policy — WordTap

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile game WordTap ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

WordTap is designed to collect as little as possible. We collect only the data needed to run the optional online leaderboard and, if you choose, protect your progress with an account:

• Display name (username): a nickname you choose inside the game (maximum 16 characters). You provide this only if you want to appear on the leaderboard. It does not have to be your real name.
• Game scores: your total, weekly, and daily points.
• Anonymous account identifier: a random ID created by Firebase Anonymous Authentication so the App can save your scores to your own leaderboard entry. This ID is not linked to your real-world identity unless you choose to link an account as described below.
• Sign in with Apple / Google (optional): if you choose to protect your progress with Apple or Google sign-in, we receive a provider identifier and, depending on your choices with that provider, your name and email address. This is used only to secure your account and restore your progress on other devices — never for advertising, and never shared with third parties beyond Firebase, which authenticates the sign-in on our behalf.

If you don't use Apple/Google sign-in, we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or photos. The App offers optional rewarded ads through Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, ad interactions, diagnostics, and consent choices to deliver, measure, secure, and improve ads. The exact processing depends on your region and privacy choices.

2. How we use the information

Leaderboard data is used to display and rank scores. Advertising data is processed by Google to provide optional rewarded ads and related measurement, fraud prevention, and compliance. We do not sell your leaderboard information. Rewarded ads appear only after you choose to watch one in exchange for the clearly described in-game reward; declining an ad does not block normal play.

3. Where the data is stored

Leaderboard data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), which acts as our hosting provider. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security terms.

4. Data retention and deletion

Your leaderboard entry and account data persist while you use the App. If you signed in with Apple or Google, you can permanently delete your account — including your cloud save, leaderboard entry, and sign-in identity — at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account inside the App. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.

5. Children's privacy

WordTap is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly request a child's real name or contact details. Parents or guardians may contact us to request deletion of leaderboard data. Advertising requests use a conservative content rating. We do not knowingly use personalized advertising for users where applicable law or the user's consent choice does not permit it.

6. Your privacy choices

Where required, WordTap displays Google's consent message before requesting ads. If your region requires an ongoing privacy-options entry point, it is available in the App's Settings screen. You can use it to review or change your advertising privacy choices.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

8. This website

This website (wordtap-81f41.web.app) shows a public page-view counter. It increments a single shared number in our Firebase Realtime Database and stores a flag in your browser's sessionStorage so a reload is not counted twice. No cookies are set, no visitor profile is built, nothing is shared with any advertising or analytics provider, and the counter records no information about who you are. As with any web request, Google's hosting infrastructure processes your IP address in order to serve the page.
